E007: Loving The Skin You're In w/ Andye J

Episode Summary

What do self-love and self-acceptance look like for you as you get older? One of the many ways self-love and acceptance can show up in our lives is by walking away from relationships and connections that no longer serve us. It also means learning to take care of yourself before anyone else and loving parts of yourself you were shamed for and conditioned to hate. True self-love is about being honest about your feelings and what you need, even when it reflects in a weird way to others. Our guest, Miss Andye J, is on a journey and describes her current phase as “seek ye first,” which is about making herself the priority and learning from her life journey. She realized she was not responsible for taking care of anybody else before taking care of herself after reevaluating her life in 2020. She describes the dichotomy of her childhood and what self-love means to her now as a black woman. She advises young black girls and women to understand that they don’t have to fit into a box or let the insecurities of others impact them. Listen in to learn the importance of having people in your life who give you the space to be vulnerable and not be what the world thinks you should be.
